We've only won the euros u21 twice, in 2006 and 2007. We really haven't veen good in youth tournaments historically. We currently are getting better players again but those tgat have pitential (Gravenberch, X. Simons, Verbruggen) are already in the senior team because there wasn't that much competition.
Our u19 team is actually really talented this time around. I am optimistic about the bext few years, but a better question is what happened with Portugal? The amount of really good talents coming through there is crazy.

Could be that emphasizing team play and tactical systems from a very young age creates a lot of average players who are good at a lot of things but never exceptional at a specific thing; in other words, not developing the technical skills of individual players and putting too much focus on tactics could be killing off the rise of any special players; add to that the safe western life and lifestyle with the emphasis on social media presence and you have a bad mixture. I could be wrong.

I think the situation improved when the big 3 (Porto, Sporting, Benfica) started to have their own infrastructure when it comes to development centers, and same happens with the FPF.
The programme for players development is coordinated centrally.
But hey its kind of a mystery to me too.

Oranje onder 19 staat met de rust 3-0 voor tegen de Engelse leeftijdsgenoten. Doelpunten van Kees Smit (een beauty), Redmond en Vennegoor of Hesselink. Van Land een aantal mooie passes gezien maar ik vind hem zonder bal wel nog echt een jeugdspeler.

Ik lees dit net nadat ik het topic over onze jeugdopleiding las. Deprimerend zeg. Ik spreek vast voor m'n beurt, helemaal omdat ik het niet op bijzonder veel baseer, maar er lijkt iets mis met het opleiden van de jeugd bij PSV.

PSV onder 19 is wel landskampioen geworden en onder 17 liep de titel maar net mis. Dus zo slecht is het misschien niet.

Dat zegt natuurlijk meer over de teamprestatie en niets over individuele talenten. Dat laatste is natuurlijk belangrijker voor de prestaties (en opbrengsten) van het eerste.
